Scream Kings 2019, Day 17
Christopher Lloyd

October 10, 2019 by Avery Faeth

He may not be first in your mind when you think of scream Kings, but Christopher Lloyd is a certifiable sultan of spook! One of his earliest roles was in "Schizoid" (David Paulsen, 1980), a whodunit-style horror, alongside Klaus Kinski, as the eccentric janitor in the apartment building where an increasingly terrified young woman lives. As members of her therapy group die one by one, she begins to suspect everyone around her. Although it wasn't a horror movie, his turn as Judge Doom in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" (Robert Zemeckis, 1988) traumatized kids and adults alike. His iconic role is as Uncle Fester in "The Addams Family" (Barry Sonnenfeld, 1991) and "Addams Family Values" (Barry Sonnenfeld, 1993). Originally he's living as Gordon Craven , a career con artist whose resemblance to the missing Addams puts him in a position to steal their money. But as he spends time with them, he realizes it's more than coincidence that makes him feel so at home! He doesn't learn much about the con, though, as he finds himself the would-be victim of a black widow out to tear the family apart for their fortune. Then, in the overlooked anthology TV movie "Quicksilver Highway" (Mick Garris, 1997), he plays a traveling storyteller spinning yarns by Stephen King and Clive Barker. Since then his horror resume has largely been B-movies and TV appearances, but he's earned his crown!
