Love Actually

Two more sleeps, and we're settling in with "Love, Actually" (Richard Curtis, 2003), starring Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Martin Freeman, Andrew Lincoln, Laura Linney, Keira Knightley, and Billy Bob Thornton. Several different storylines collide during a Christmas in London, unexpectedly connected through family, friends, and lovers. A new Prime Minister grapples with his duties, while his younger sister fights her own battles on the domestic homefront. Meanwhile, a widowed friend of the family counsels his stepson through a first love. A new couple deal with a jealous friend, while one of their bachelor pals heads to America in search of love. Another of their wedding guests heals a broken heart in France with the help of a shy housekeeper. A woman's boss encourages her to follow her heart while simultaneously struggling with his own wandering eye. This sentimental trip has gotten some mixed reviews, but it remains a favorite guilty pleasure of ours.
