The Santa Clause

Here's a solid classic for kids of a certain age, "The Santa Clause" (John Pasquin, 1994), starring Tim Allen, Judge Reinhold, Peter Boyle, David Krumholtz, Wendy Crewson, and Eric Lloyd. Absentee father Scott Calvin just can't seem to get Christmas right. In a desperate attempt to impress his jaded son, he takes on the role of Santa for the night when the jolly fat man falls off his roof. But the fine print'll get ya - and he realizes he's stuck playing the part for real. No one but his starstruck son believes him, and his magical new job threatens their real world relationship. Scott has one year to reconcile his old life with his new one, and all of Christmas hangs in the balance. This film spawned several sequels, but the original remains the best.
