Scream Queens 2018: #26 Kasi Lemmons & Dee Wallace
Starting off today is the scream queen sidekick of legend, Kasi Lemmons. Kasi plays Ardelia Mapp, a trusted colleague of Jodi Foster's Clarice Starling in "The Silence of the Lambs" (Jonathan Demme 1991). She followed that performance up with Bernadette "Bernie" Walsh, a fellow student and best friend of Virginia Madsen's Helen Lyle in "Candyman" (Bernard Rose, 1992). Kasi stepped out of the sidekick shadow for her directorial debut with "Eve's Bayou" (1997). She's been slaying it behind the camera ever since.
Tonight we meet the inimitable Dee Wallace. Dee is a storied veteran of the horror genre, starting with her role as Lynne Wood in "The Hills Have Eyes" (Wes Craven, 1977). Her impressive resume includes Cynthia Strode in "Halloween" (Rob Zombie, 2007), Patricia Ann Bradley in "The Frighteners" (Peter Jackson, 1996), Helen Brown in "Critters" (Stephen Herek, 1986), Donna Trenton in "Cujo" (Lewis Teague, 1983), and Karen White in "The Howling" (Joe Dante, 1981). Dee also dips her toe into sci fi with her role as Mary in "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial" (Steven Spielberg, 1982). She is adept at playing nurturing but fiercely protective women.
