Waiting on Wednesday (13)

Waiting on Wednesday is a featured post hosted by Breaking the Spine that discusses upcoming releases that bloggers are excited about.

This week's book I am looking forward to in 2016 is:

Author: Marissa Meyer
Expected Release Date: November 8th, 2016
Publisher: Feiwel and Friends

Long before she was the terror of Wonderland — the infamous Queen of Hearts — she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the yet-unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend and supply the Kingdom of Hearts with delectable pastries and confections. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen.

At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the king's marriage proposal, she meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship.

Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

  1. So I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Heartless and OMG it was so good! I devoured it and found myself hoping for things to go differently than I knew they were "supposed" to. Meyer is that good, she makes you hope when you already know how it's supposed to end. I hope you enjoy it when it comes out :)

    1. Thanks Berls! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it so much! Did you know there's a preorder giveaway for Heartless? Not sure if you are planning on ordering a finished copy or not, but the magnetic bookmark for the preorder is pretty cute! I just saw it for the first time last week!

  2. This comment has been removed by the author.

  3. Confession time: I've never actually read a Meyer's book. Everyone loves them and the covers are always awesome, but for some reason the descriptions just don't grab me. I need to suck it up and read Cinder but there's so many others that come along...

    1. *covers ears. I'm going to pretend like I didn't read that! LOL. just kidding, but I hope you get a chance to try Cinder soon! Even if you don't have time to get through the entire series, I do think the first one is fantastic as a temporary standalone until you get a chance to start the rest. It's my favorite in the series! It's funny because one of the English courses at my university actually added Cinder to the required reading list and all my friends loved it! I told them they need to start reading the rest now!
      Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I didn't do a WOW this week, but am still interested in checking out other picks! I am slowly working my way through the Lunar Chronicles. I haven't been quite blown away by them, but they have been good enough that I am going to still pick up Cress and give it a chance. I love the ideas behind Meyer's stories, so I just keep giving chances. This one sounds really good too!

    1. I feel like the Lunar Chronicles was a big hit or miss for some people. I think of it like the Raven Boys by Stiefvater. Even though some people LOVED it and raved about it, I just didn't enjoy the series as much as I'd hoped. It was good, but not a favorite of mine.
I am glad to hear you have read some of Meyer's books though! Cinder is my favorite in the series (With Winter a close second).
      Thanks for stopping by Lisa!
